9 Dollar donation to 0 A.D.
As an avid fan of the -best- historical RTS on Linux I donated 9 dollar to 0 AD. Development is moving very fast and it looks like the donations are spent wisely :).
The Wall building system has been completely redone and its looking great as you can see in this video:

Small donation to Ardour
Ardour is a hard disk recorder and digital audio workstation application. It runs on Linux, Mac OS X and FreeBSD. Its primary author is Paul Davis, who is also responsible for the JACK Audio Connection Kit. Ardour's intention is to provide digital audio workstation software suitable for professional use. Why I donated?
I just donated one dollar to Ardour, a free and open source digital audio workstation for Linux and Mac. The main developer of this project works full time on open source, supporting himself with donations.
So even though I don't really use Ardour, I still think its important that this kind of libre software exists. Since he barely reaches his monthly goals in donations, a little bit of help is always appreciated.

You can donate toward sponsoring issues or new features. Donors can download the executables for Linux and Mac.

The main developer can support his family and work on Open Source software :)

I just donated one dollar to Ardour, a free and open source digital audio workstation for Linux and Mac. The main developer of this project works full time on open source, supporting himself with donations.
So even though I don't really use Ardour, I still think its important that this kind of libre software exists. Since he barely reaches his monthly goals in donations, a little bit of help is always appreciated.

30 Dollar donation to the Mozilla Foundation
The Mozilla Foundation is the non-profit behind the popular open source web browser Firefox. Firefox is one of my favorite projects because I've been using it since its first release And I've seen it grow ever since that first release. As a web browser it may not be the most widely used or the fastest but it has always been my trusty workhorse that has an extension ready for anything you might need.
Why I donated?
I donated because I think its important to support a company / foundation that strives for standards and an open world wide web. Mozilla has been doing just that for many years and I doubt they will ever stop.
Benefits For Donating
When you donate 30 dollar or more you will receive a free Firefox T-shirt. Donations are also tax-deductible for US citizens, though this doesn't really apply to me since I live in Belgium.
What Will My Donation Change?
The Mozilla Foundation is pretty big so my small donation probably won't change a lot but they state on their website that donations are used to support various projects within the Mozilla Foundation.

10 Euro donated to the Blender Foundation
The Blender Foundation is the force behind the popular open source 3D graphics software Blender. It is one of the few open-source applications that can compete with its commercial equivalents. Though according to Wikipedia it is still mostly used by hobbyists rather than amateur or professional users.
Why I Donated?
I don't use Blender myself but I really want the project to grow for other people to enjoy it. Blender is one of those flagship open source projects that really make a difference. Artists can use it instead of pirating commercial software or paying massive amounts of money for Maya or 3D Max.
Benefits For Donating
No real perks here but it feels good when you donate to a valuable project :)
What Will My Donation Change?
Revenues from their e-shop and donations will be used to pay 4 developers to work full time on Blender. They use some extra funds to organize events and keep their website up and running.

Brian Lunduke is the co-host of The Linux Action Show who recently decided to open source all of his commercial games and applications if he reached $4000 in recurring donations. He has reached this goal and all his software will be released under the GPL license.

I donated because this was a great opportunity to help open source some commercial applications. Whenever you get chance like this you have to take advantage of it I think. Though his software may not be -that- great yet, I think by open-sourcing it, it may vastly improve over time.

With every Dollar you donate, you get 1 vote in a monthly poll for new features etc. So with my 5 dollar donation, I will get 5 votes in that poll next month. The open-sourcing of these formerly closed-source software is also a major benefit of course :-)

Donation of 4 dollar to the 0 A.D. project
0 A.D. is an open source RTS game with amazing graphics and pretty advanced gameplay. All art-assets are licensed under CC-BY-SA, which is great imho, and the code itself is licensed under GPLv2. 0 A.D. is under active development by WildFire Games and they issue a new release every 2 months.
Why I Donated?
My primary reason for this initial donation was that they use the CC-BY-SA license for all their artwork, which allows you to share and remix even for commercial use. They also give away everything for free and there is no other accurate historical open source RTS game of this quality.
